WHO? ARC - The Adoption Registration Coalition - A Volunteer coalition of adoptees, birthparents, adoptive parents, and others from various search & support, adoption reform and adoptee rights activist groups dedicated to promoting the use of the International Soundex Reunion Registry for reuniting adoptees and birthparents around the world. The primary function of the ARC is to plan, promote, and execute the International Registration Day events. ISRR - The International Soundex Reunion Registry - The World's largest and most successful mutual consent reunion registry. Founded in 1975 by Emma May Vilardi with the intention of providing a centralized registry open to adult family members separated by adoption, divorce or other dislocation. They do not provide search assistance. There is no charge for registration but donations are accepted. WHAT? RegDay is an annual event where volunteers set up tables in public locations for the purpose of publicizing the ISRR and assisting people seeking lost family members in filling out ISRR Applications. Information about local search/support groups, state agencies, state laws, and other information pertaining to adoption may also be disseminated. WHERE? In public locations all over the US --even on Military Bases, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Virgin Islands and Samoa. WHEN? For 11 years, the ARC's International RegDay was held annually the first Saturday in October. Beginning in 2006, RegDay is held in November in conjunction with National Adoption Awareness Month. RegDay 2007 is November 10, 2007. WHY?
